At the beginning of July, we held a new edition of our one-week training course on raw earth techniques, working closely as usual with the Brussels-based company BC Materials. 

In our current context of the climate crisis, the objective is to increase awareness and disseminate technical skills about this inherently ecological material. 

This training adopted the form of a ULB Summer School, thus making it accessible to an international audience. We have welcomed a fantastic group of about 30 participants, including students as well as professionals, joining us from all over Europe and as far away as Georgia, the United Arab Emirates, and the US! The tutors on BC's side were Jasper Van der Linden and Bregt Hoppenbrouwers (introduction and blocks masonry). They were joined by Austria-based Belgian engineer Arnaud Evrard (rammed earth) and our alumna Arianna Fabrizi (plasters). Supporting lectures have been kindly provided by our PhD researcher Gaëlle Faguet (compressed earth blocks in Mayotte) and Mathieu Tamaillon from Paris-based Cycle Terre cooperative.
